Borrow by Mail

Judges and attorneys licensed to practice in Wisconsin may use our Borrow by Mail service to borrow library materials and have them shipped directly to an office address. Materials are typically shipped within 24 hours after we receive your request, Monday through Friday.

We deliver books from our Madison locations for pickup at the Milwaukee County Law Library at no charge, and deliver books from our Milwaukee library to Madison at no charge. You may return books at any of our libraries in Madison and Milwaukee at no extra charge, or ship them directly at your own expense.

Attorneys

When you're unable to get to the law library, let the law library come to you. Check out the trusted practice material and treatises in our collection to bolster your practice.

  1. Contact a librarian at 608-267-9696 or wsll.ref@wicourts.gov to borrow a book from our library through the mail.
  2. A librarian will pull the book and check it out to you for our regular 30 day borrowing period. We'll ship it within 1 business day via FedEx.
  3. Pay the $12 shipping and handling fee online or by invoice. Our billing coordinator will work with you on payment.
  4. Renew your books for another 30 days, or return the book to us. You may return it to our library by a delivery method you choose.

Judges
